It’s common in the United States for a child to make lemonade on a hot summer afternoon and to try to sell it as people pass by his yard.
My son Ben did this for two summers with his own recipe of real-lemon juice lemonade. He set up a stand down the road from us on the corner of a busy street.
He typically made about $70 on a hot summer afternoon. A number of times a person would stop and give him a couple of dollars just because he was an entrepreneur. They liked to see the next generation learning how to conduct business.
Ben really liked talking with the people who would stop. He discovered that he liked the interaction that a sales position brings. And, of course, he liked to earn a little spending money.
